A White House official told media on Tuesday that President Donald J. Trump is planning to visit China in November amid increased tensions between the two countries on the issues of bilateral trade and North Korea.

Chinese President Xi Jinping first invited Mr. Trump to visit Beijing during a joint trip to Florida in April.

Steve Bannon, Mr. Trump’s former chief strategist, also confirmed on Tuesday that the U.S. president is planning a November visit.

Mr. Trump has repeatedly criticized China for its trade policies, which he blames for the loss of jobs in the U.S. He has also pressed China to take a more aggressive stance against North Korea amid recent missile launches and nuclear tests that dramatically escalated tensions in the peninsula.
