The U.S. military carried out two strikes against Islamic State militants in Libya on Tuesday killing several fighters, the U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) said in a release.
“The strike occurred approximately 100 miles southeast of Sirte,” AFRICOM said on Thursday. “The United States stands by our Libyan counterparts and supports their efforts to counter terror threats and defeat ISIS in Libya.”
The new strikes were conducted in coordination with Libya’s Government of National Accord.
Last Friday, six U.S. strikes killed 17 ISIS fighters near Sirte.
