North Korea may soon test a missile that it believes can reach the United States, Russian lawmaker Anton Morozov said on Friday after a visit to Pyongyang.
“They’re preparing for a new test of a longer-range missile,” Mr. Morozov said in an interview with RIA Novosti. “They even showed us mathematical calculations, which, in their opinion, indicate that they can reach the west coast of the U.S.”
The lawmaker, who is a member of the Russian State Duma’s International Affairs Committee, said the test would likely be carried out “in the near future,” and added that Pyongyang is in a “combative mood.”
U.S. media reported on Wednesday that a new “provocation” by North Korea could take place on October 9, when the country celebrates Columbus Day.
