The revelation of a new video showing Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan calmly watching a violent scuffle between protesters and his bodyguards rattled the American media, prompting Senator John McCain to call for the removal of the Turkish ambassador to the U.S.

Some even claimed that Mr. Erdogan might have given the order of attack as he was seen talking to his bodyguards who soon rushed to encounter the protesters.

In the video, Mr. Erdogan got out of the car, and calmly watched the unfolding violence. Then he entered embassy building.

The scenes appeared to be disturbing and spurred bipartisan condemnation from Republicans and Democrats alike.
