Russian President Vladimir Putin accused the United States on Thursday of failure to comply with nuclear and chemical weapons treaties.
Mr. Putin said unlike Washinton, Moscow has been fulfilling its obligations under the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty.
“We have been abiding by it [INF Treaty] and will continue to do that until our counterparts comply with our previous agreements,” the president said at the Valdai International Discussion Club meeting.
Mr. Putin said Russia had halted its participation in some agreements because “the American side is doing nothing,” and Moscow cannot proceed with the deals on its own.
“If our US counterparts wish to pull out of the treaty, then we will give an immediate response, and a mirrored one, too – I would like to make it clear right away,” he added.
