The independence referendum held by Iraqi Kurdistan on Monday has not affected U.S.-led Coalition operations against the Islamic State in the country, Operation Inherent Resolve spokesperson Col. Ryan Dillon said.

“Coalition operations out of Erbil, specifically the use of the airport there, have not been affected,” Dillon said in a briefing on Thursday.

U.S. Coalition Envoy Brett McGurk stated before the referendum that the event could be distracting for the counter-ISIS campaign.
