Some 35 international donors pledged more than $344 million on Monday to urgently ramp up the delivery of critical humanitarian aid to Rohingya refugees who have fled Myanmar for Bangladesh, UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Mark Lowcock announced.

“These very generous pledges must now quickly translate into life-saving relief for the vulnerable refugees and support to host communities who have been stretched to the limit,” Mr. Lowcock said in a statement.

The UN noted that funding was also pledged for the humanitarian response inside Myanmar. Up to date, some 600,000 Rohingya have fled the country amid a military campaign that began in late August.
